There are numerous ways to get involved in substance abuse prevention in our local community. Listed below are programs currently active in Kittitas County. See what you can do to make a difference.
Campus Community Coaltion The Campus-Community Coalition is committed to changing practices, policies and expectations within the community to reduce underage and high-risk drinking, using a collaborative approach that is supported by research.
Teens Against Tobacco Use (TATU) TATU is a peer education program in which high school students are trained to teach about the hazards of tobacco use to middle and elementary school students. TATU programs in Kittitas County are made available through the collaborative effort of school advisors, Kittitas County Public Health, and the American Lung Association of Washington.
Kittitas County Traffic Safety and DUI Task Force The Kittitas County Traffic Safety Task Force, coordinated by Melanie Hopkins, works on a variety of projects in the county and collaborates with local organizations and law enforcement to help promote safe driving and educate citizens on pedestrian and traffic safety issues.
Kittitas County Substance Abuse Advisory Program Board The Alcohol/Substance Abuse Program Board advises the Board of County Commissioners on the state of the county's chemical dependency and substance abuse treatment and prevention programs.
Kittitas County Tobacco Free Coalition The KCTFC's mission is to develop and promote innovative, accessible resources to support education, prevention, and cessation of tobacco use in Kittitas County by means of a local self-sustaining coalition of key individuals and organizations.
